This weekend, the Town of Bloomfield proudly celebrated the ribbon cutting of the newly constructed Prosser Public Library. Bloomfield officials, residents, and community members gathered to celebrate the opening of a modern, state-of-the-art facility designed to serve all members of the Bloomfield community.
“This is a space that will serve as a cornerstone of learning, connections and more,” Mayor Danielle Wong said.
The ceremony featured remarks from Mayor Wong, Patrick DeLorenzo of the Library Board of Trustees, Library Director Elizabeth Lane, Director of Community Investment Fund Matt Pugliese, Building Committee Chair Mark Weisman, TSKP’s own Tai Soo Kim and special guest Anika Noni Rose - all of whom emphasized the importance of the library as a place of knowledge, inclusion, and community pride. Each speaker recognized the years of planning, collaboration, and perseverance that made this new facility a reality.
The new 28,000 sq. ft. library features flexible spaces to meet the diverse needs of the community, including dedicated children’s and teen areas, a large community room with after-hours access, and expanded technology resources. A new pedestrian bridge connects the library to expanded parking, while the design incorporates sustainable and resilient features, including construction above the floodplain.
“This library didn’t appear overnight,” said Library Director Elizabeth Lane, “it came to life with the input, energy and ideas of the people it was made for.”
