Continuing #MakingOfAPlace: Farmington High School. A look inside how flexible spaces support collaboration, connection, and new ways of learning.
In the second video of this series, students share how learning stairs, commons, pods, quiet study areas, and other shared spaces help them work together, build confidence, and feel more energized as learners.

Vicky, Student: “This new building offers more collaboration, and I think that a lot of it is through the unique spaces that we have. In the old building, you were either in a classroom, you were eating lunch, or you were in the library. And in this building, you can be on the learning stairs, in the learning commons, in the quiet study, in the Senior Summit, and I could just keep going and going.”

Student: “We have the pods for every subject, and there’s areas in the middle where students and teachers can meet and collaborate. There’s different types of furniture, desks or like tables that are made out of whiteboards, or just like all these things that foster collaboration.”

Luke, Student: “And I feel a lot of these classes utilize those spaces very well. So you’re not just sitting in one desk, but it’s a lot more hands-on because of the new school and the pods. I’d say there’s definitely been a big change. I’ve been more confident and energized as a learner.”

Luke, Student: “Walking into the school with all of the natural light and all of the collaborative working spaces, I think all these spaces enable us to work better, better in teams, and be better students.”
