Ariela Zhang, a designer here at TSKP STUDIO and born in Guiyang Guizhou province in China, shares with us some of the history and meaning of this year’s zodiac sign:
This week will be the last week of Winter.
Spring will awaken all living things.
A four character of Chinese phrase in the same meaning:万(wan)物(wu)复(fu)苏(su)
2025 is the Wood Snake; The character,巳, certainly looks like a snake!
People born in the snake year will have the characteristics of a snake: adaptability, wisdom, and cautiousness (1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013, 2025).
A fun story about Snake in 12 Chinese zodiac:
Long ago, the Jade Emperor held a race to determine the 12 zodiac animals. The animals had to cross a river, and their rank was determined by the order in which they arrived.
Knowing it couldn't swim fast, the Snake cleverly hid on the horse’s back.
As the horse neared the finish line, the Snake suddenly jumped ahead, startling the horse and claiming sixth place. (Horse the seventh, of course, which will be next year)
The race showcased not only strength but also intelligence and strategy, with the Snake earning its spot in the zodiac through wit and resourcefulness.
