This 40,000 SF academic building creates a physical link between two distinct areas of Colgate's campus. At the convergence of two paths leading up a hill, the building creates a defined space between three campus buildings and a triangular core of facilities. TSKP STUDIO’s design incorporates a bridge suspended between two sections of the building allowing the path to pass through.
The building provides space for the economics, geography and political science departments; for campus-wide classrooms, faculty offices and computer labs. The glass enclosed bridge functions as an informal meeting place and offers dramatic views of both the distinguished upper campus buildings and the vista of the lake below. For the project TSKP STUDIO won two awards: a New England/AIA Design Award and a CSA/AIA Design Award.
