TSKP STUDIO conducted a concept study for the expansion and renovation of two town-owned and occupied facilities to provide an educational campus for 1,100 students in grades three, four and five. The study proposed three options, each illustrated by a model, cost estimate and phasing plan for new construction and renovations. Following town-wide approval of one option, TSKP STUDIO completed the design and oversaw construction. This Renovate-As-New design entailed major renovations and an addition resulting in one school building organized into two distinct and balanced educational “houses” of 526 students each. The two houses share one set of core facilities. The new construction provides a new cafeteria and kitchen, a new media center and a code compliant connector to the auxiliary gym. Site improvements entailed creating separate entrances for the two houses, both served by one circulation loop. It also provides new parent drop-off and parking areas to the north and south of the school.
